Im Upset

I'm Upset was a rapid brief that we only had a week to work on. We were given a clip from a film or television show that utilised VFX. Our task was to recreate the effect using only practical effects (i.e: no digital effects). We were allowed to go off script from our clip, as much or as little as we wanted, but we had to use the effect somewhere in our film. We were assigned a clip from the 1993 live action Super Mario Bros movie, in which a man's head is warped and contorted in a grotesque manner. To recreate this practically, we fabricated a reflective surface that we could physically bend and warp. We then filmed my reflection in that surface, whilst warping it, to get the desired effect. This project was entered into a competition, for which it was awarded second place.
